ASC E3SL Workshop: Grammar Patterns that "Mean" Something Online
Workshop 1/3: Grammar Patterns that "Mean" Something
From Awareness to Accuracy in English Writing
This workshop focuses on the most common grammar patterns and recurring errors experienced by English language learners from specific language backgrounds. Rather than covering grammar broadly, the session is targeted and strategic: participants learn to identify the errors they are most likely to make, understand why those errors occur, and practice revising them in context.
Through guided examples, explanation of underlying rules, and hands-on practice, participants will strengthen their ability to recognize grammar issues in their own writing and apply corrections with confidence. The workshop emphasizes pattern recognition over memorization, helping writers make lasting improvements rather than isolated fixes.
Participants will:
-
Identify common grammar challenges linked to their language background
-
Learn the linguistic reasons behind frequent errors
-
Practice revising sentences and short passages
-
Develop strategies for independent editing and self-monitoring
