[Dissertation Conference] Work Hard, But Also Smart

[Dissertation Conference] Work Hard, But Also Smart Online

This presentation will go over a few of the free resources students have available (and will continue to have even post graduation) that can aid in effectively communicating your scientific findings. These include reference managers, formatting software, computer programming for publication grade figures and data analysis.

Writing up research is tough. In addition to the actual science (identifying a question, designing the research, analysis, etc.), there are also so many other variables to consider, like organization of materials and formatting. What is APA formatting for a second level header? Excel is not creating my figure in quite the right way! Which paper was it that I am meaning to reference? While there is no substitute for hard work in delivering a cohesive research story, there are plenty of free resources out there that can help students with organization and formatting.
