Therapeutic Alliance, Ruptures, and Repair Online
This advanced-level program is designed to develop functional clinical Spanish skills for therapeutic practice, grounded in The Skilled Helper Model by Gerard Egan. Through a structured, experiential approach, participants learn to communicate ethically and effectively with Spanish-speaking clients across diverse helping contexts. The curriculum emphasizes communication for safety, alliance-building, and meaning-making rather than grammatical perfection, aligning language use with core therapeutic competencies (Egan, 2018). By integrating language learning with the three stages of Egan’s model—Exploration, Understanding, and Action—participants strengthen their ability to support client agency, foster therapeutic alliance, and translate insight into concrete steps.
This session focuses on the therapeutic alliance in Spanish, including how to address misunderstandings, ruptures, and repair. Participants learn respectful language for naming tension, validating impact, and inviting feedback without defensiveness.
We rehearse phrases for accountability, cultural humility, and collaboration when trust is strained. Participants also practice maintaining boundaries while remaining warm and responsive.
