Trauma-Informed, Inclusive Sexuality Psychoeducation for Youth and Caregivers Online
Conversations about bodies, relationships, consent, identity, and sexual health can be difficult for young people and caregivers alike. Avoidance, shame, misinformation, family conflict, and prior trauma can make these conversations even harder. Mental health providers are uniquely positioned to help families replace a single, anxiety-filled “talk” with ongoing, developmentally appropriate communication.
This interactive webinar presents a clinical framework for providing inclusive, trauma-informed sexuality psychoeducation to K–12 youth and their caregivers. Participants will learn to assess family beliefs, developmental needs, communication patterns, trauma considerations, and barriers to caregiver-youth conversations without imposing the clinician’s personal values. The session addresses consent, boundaries, healthy relationships, sexual and gender diversity, disability, digital behavior, sexual development, and responses to difficult questions or disclosures. Participants will leave with clinical screening questions, caregiver coaching strategies, developmentally appropriate conversation prompts, language for navigating value differences, and practical tools for distinguishing expected discomfort from trauma activation or safety concerns.
