Health, Hope and Happiness: Incorporating Clinical Hypnosis into Primary Care Online
Hypnosis can have such a positive impact in primary care, but there are limited skilled hypnotherapy providers offering this intervention and medical providers are not always aware of how to find them. This workshop will build on experiences of the presenter, a behavioral health clinician working in a busy primary care setting, and explore lessons from establishing a smoking cessation clinic which has evolved into wider utilization for other presenting concerns, such as needle phobia, hypertension, surgery preparation, trauma recovery and more. Hypnotherapy in this environment allows for brief treatment as part of integrated care that is efficient, effective and billable.
We will explore appropriate clinical applications, good candidates, and strategies to introduce this to providers and leadership. Case studies and discussion will be utilized to demonstrate how these interventions can be life-changing for patients, increasing trust in providers, enhancing engagement with care, and strengthening their own sense of health, well-being and hope for positive change in their health and lives.
