Psychotherapy Models of Clinical Supervision Online
The Clinical Supervision Series I: Foundations & Models Microcredential series covers the foundational competencies in clinical supervision for mental health professionals, including supervisor roles, functions, core competencies, and major supervision models including developmental, psychotherapy-based, integrative, reflective, constructivist, and blended approaches to supervision to support effective, ethical, and developmentally responsive site supervision.
This presentation provides clinical supervisors with a concise overview of contemporary psychotherapy-based supervision models grounded in postmodern and strengths-based approaches. It highlights the key aspects and applications of Narrative/Collaborative Constructivist, Solution-Focused, and Systemic/Social Constructionist supervision, including co-construction of meaning, strengths-based goal setting, and attention to relational and cultural contexts. Informed by recent peer-reviewed literature and aligned with CACREP (2024) standards and the ACA Code of Ethics (2014), this presentation will identify the key aspects and application of Narrative/Collaborative Constructivist Supervision, discuss the key aspects and application of Solution-Focused Supervision, and explain the key aspects and application of Systemic/Social Constructionist Supervision (Bernard & Goodyear, 2019; Borders & Brown, 2021; Watkins, 2020).
