The transition to parenthood brings more than dirty diapers and sleepless nights—it ushers in one of the most profound systemic shifts in a couple’s life. Relationship satisfaction frequently declines after a child’s birth (Doss & Rhoades, 2017), and many couples report desire discrepancy, relational strain, and unexpressed resentment of unseen burdens (Nagoski, 2015; Schnarch, 2009; Gur & Frenkel, 2023).

Grounded in research and theory, this 2-hour interactive training will equip therapists with knowledge and clinical tools to assess couple dynamics in the parenting transition and guide partners toward connection, intimacy, and realistic sexual expectations. Participants will learn strategies to surface hidden burdens, address desire discrepancy, and integrate multicultural assessments. Clinicians will leave with interventions they can begin using immediately to help couples navigate this new parenting landscape.
